Why you can trust the number
Don't take our word.
Read the ledger.
Read before you pay
Three full reports are public, unedited, computed by the exact engine you would use. Read them end to end before you spend a cent. And if a file is the wrong export, the analysis stops before your report is ever consumed.
Calibrated, not guessed
The value range isn't a vibe. Every figure is computed deterministically from the CSVs, and the range is calibrated to real small-SaaS market benchmarks – not a growth-VC fantasy multiple.

Why this exists
“I build software for a living, and I've seen the polish up close: listings that quote the best month, count dead subscriptions and hope nobody checks. GemOrLemon is the check I wanted to buy – the questions a $3,000 review asks, answered by code, before the wire goes out.”
FAQ
Before you ask.
What is GemOrLemon?
GemOrLemon is a due-diligence tool for people buying a SaaS business. You upload the seller's Stripe exports; it computes verified financial metrics in code and returns a defensible verdict – gem, squeeze or lemon – plus the price the numbers actually support.
What exactly do I upload?
Four CSV exports from the seller's Stripe account: subscriptions, invoices, customers and (optionally) charges. The seller can export them in two minutes; no API access needed.
Do you store the raw data?
No. The CSVs are processed in memory and discarded – only the computed, aggregated metrics of your report are stored.
Is this AI guesswork?
No. Every number is computed deterministically in code. A language model only phrases the findings – it is not allowed to invent or calculate numbers.
Who is it for?
Buyers of small SaaS businesses – marketplace deals, micro-PE, indie acquisitions. Anyone who wants to know what the Stripe account says before wiring six figures.
Can the seller just fake or filter the exports?
Filtering is the classic move: Stripe's subscription list defaults to “Active”, so an export can silently hide every cancelled customer – and churn becomes invisible. We cross-check the four files against each other (for example every subscription referenced by an invoice must exist) and reject exports that do not add up. Outright forging numbers would have to stay consistent across thousands of rows in four files – and misrepresenting them to a buyer is fraud.
What if my CSVs are invalid?
Every upload is validated before the analysis starts. If a file is empty, swapped or not the expected Stripe export, you get a clear error message – and your report is not consumed.
What language is the report in?
English or German – you pick per report.
Are the sample reports real?
The companies are fictional, the reports are not: we generated realistic Stripe datasets and ran them through the exact same engine you would use. Nothing in them is edited by hand.
What if the deal has no Stripe?
Right now we read Stripe exports only. Other billing systems are on the list.
How much can this actually save me?
One report costs $199. In the sample lemon deal it flags an asking price overstated by $163,452. If a check like that stops you from overpaying once, it has paid for itself thousands of times over.
Isn't $199 a lot for a single report?
You are about to wire five or six figures on the strength of a listing. $199 to see whether the Stripe account backs up that listing is the cheapest line item in the whole deal.
What if the verdict is GEM – did I waste my money?
No. A gem verdict is the confidence to move fast without second-guessing, and you still get the value range and the negotiation points. Knowing a deal is clean is worth the $199 on its own.
Can I use the report to negotiate the price down?
Yes. Every red flag ships with its dollar impact and a ready-to-send question for the seller. A single documented issue – an eroding base, high churn, one dominant customer – is concrete leverage on price, an earnout or guarantees.
How accurate is the valuation – can I trust it?
The numbers are computed deterministically from the CSVs, never estimated. The value range is calibrated to real small-SaaS market benchmarks, not a growth-VC multiple. It is a defensible orientation, not financial advice.
